Upon arrival to Queen Alia Airport our representative will meet and assist you through the immigration and customs procedures. 45 min transfer to the hotel in Amman for overnight.
Start the day with a city tour in Jordan's capital. Amman, already mentioned in the Bible as Rabbath Ammon, is a bustling modern city. The historical places are located in downtown, where we visit the Citadel with remains from the Roman to the early Islamic period. Then we have a round in the Archaeological Museum. Visit the Roman Theatre from 2nd century with 6000 seats and time to stroll through Jabal Amman, one of the oldest parts of Amman. Drive 45 minutes to the town Salt. Here you walk along Hammam Street to see the highlights of the 19th century architecture of this period, houses with long-arched windows in picturesque narrow streets. Well known is the Abu Jaber mansion, built between 1892 and 1906, reputed to be the finest example of a 19th century merchant house in the region. Return transfer to your Amman hotel. We drive 1 hour to Jerash, the best example of a Roman provincial city in the whole Middle East. Visit the spectacular forum, Roman colonnaded street, the Nymphaeum and the Temple of Artemis. Next stop is Ajloun the great 12th century Islamic castle built around 1184/85 by the famous Islamic leader Salah al-Din. Back to Amman hotel. Meals: Breakfast at Hotel
Check out from hotel. Transfer to Mount Nebo. From here Prophet Moses overlooked the Promised Land after 40 yrs in the desert, and Nebo is his alleged burial site. Enjoy the view of the Holy Land (if weather is clear) and see some early Christian mosaics. Proceed southwards to Dana Nature Reserve, characterized by a chain of valleys and mountains which extend from the top of the Jordan Rift Valley down to the desert lowlands of Wadi Araba. Short, moderate hike of about 2 hours. Traveling towards Petra we stop in Little Petra with Siq Al Barid. Overnight Petra Hotel. Meals: Breakfast at Hotel
After breakfast visit the red rose city Petra, the biggest attraction of Jordan. Petra was first established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs, a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and founded a commercial empire. Pass the canyon, the so called Siq, to the most beautiful monument: the Treasury. Among other monuments you will see are the Street of Facades, the Royal Tombs and Pharaoh's Castle. Overnight Petra. Free morning in Petra and the chance to see Petra for a second time. Then 1.5 hours drive to Wadi Rum. Explore the desert area by a jeep ride to see rugged mountains, canyons, sand dunes and rock inscriptions from Thamudic and Nabatean period. Dinner and overnight at campsite. Today we travel 3.5 hours to the Dead Sea. Check in at your hotel with a free afternoon. With 400 meters below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth, where ever since the days of Herod the Great, people have flocked to in search of its curative secrets.
